Italian Xmas Dinner Photos

The Italian Christmas Dinner Fundraiser Tuesday was put together and hosted by our own Dennis Much and Brian McHugh. Many thanks to them and other LGBT Grant County members who assisted in making the dinner a real treat. Feedback from more than one attendee stated that the food was great and the evening was pleasant. Congratulations on a nicely executed fundraising event!

AIDS Candlelight Vigil and Names Quilt

In the evening of International AIDS Day, December 1st, about 30 people gathered in the Alumni Garden on the campus of WNMU to remember those lost to AIDS and those still confronting AIDS. Stories were told, tributes given and tears shed. It was also a time of re-commitment to confront an implacable foe which we will all confront sometime in our lives with those we love and cherish.

The following day, the AIDS Names quilt went on display on the stage of the WNMU Fine Arts Center Theatre. Three panels were hung each containing the quilts of eight persons lost to AIDS. Some were young, some old and some in between. Each quilt was carefully and made with care by family, friends and classmates.

Persons visiting the quilts were given the opportunity to write comments and LGBT Grant County was given many “Thank You’s” for bringing the quilt here to our small corner of New Mexico. A number of visitors also asked for and received instructions on making a quilt for a loved one. Hopefully we can contribute to the Quilt visit next year.

The Quilt display would not have been possible with out the support of many contributors. Brandon Perrault, Ward Rudik, Robert Wedemeier, George Atkinson, Cissy McAndrew, Silver City PFLAG, Damie Nelson, Sparks Clinic PC, Faye McCalmont, Wentz Electric, Kathryn Eaton, Tre Rosat and Family and Youth Inc. The supporters were an integral part in bring the quilt and we thank them.
