Hi all our LGBTQI family and our supporters, 2013 has been an incredible year for us. We have seen same sex marriage become legal in numerous states including New Mexico. We even witnessed a four couple LGBT wedding in September, the first in Grant County’s history. We now have a place to call our own (the Rainbow Village) in the College Street Plaza. LGBT Grant County has been visible in the 4th of July Parade with a huge rainbow flag, while smiling and waving to parade onlookers with a religious right religious faction blaring over their loudspeaker their huge dislike for our right to marry. We hosted numerous Sunday Brunches since opening our Rainbow Village. We also hosted a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner at the WNMU Dining Hall during a snow storm. And let’s not forget the AIDS Quilt too.
None of our volunteers and board member have been paid for our hard work, but that’s OK. We want to see our LGBTQI community grow and succeed. But, we need our extended family to step up and become paying members. We cannot have this great 501c3 organization without our membership. When you become a member of LGBT Grant County, you have a say as to how this organization moves forward in 2014. By the way, keep Sunday, April 6th at noon open on your calendar for our annual meeting picnic at Gomez Peak Group Area.
So, become a new member or renew your existing membership today. It’s the best $20 value in Grant County!
